The Los Angels Dodgers claimed right-hander Nick Nastrini off waivers from the Miami Marlins, while right-hander Noah Davis was designated for assignment.
Nastrini, 25, was designated for assignment this week after just one appearance in the Marlins’ minor league system. He made his major league debut last season and went 0-7 with a 7.07 ERA in nine appearances (eight starts) for the Chicago White Sox.
He now returns to his original organization as he was drafted in the fourth round by the Dodgers in 2021 then traded to the White Sox in 2023.
Davis, 28, was 0-1 with a 19.50 ERA in five appearances for the Dodgers. Most of that damage came in a single outing, when Los Angeles was short on pitching and Davis was left in the game to give up 10 runs while recording just four outs in an 18-1 loss on July 4 to the Houston Astros.
In 23 major league appearances with the Colorado Rockies and Dodgers over the past four seasons, Davis is 0-5 with an 8.95 ERA in 23 appearances (six starts).
